RTCS Track & Field is the longest running RTCS sports program, beginning its 21st season in March 2020. Throughout our 21 seasons, RTCS student-athletes have experienced success at both the individual and team level.
RTCS Track & Field was established in the spring of 2000 when Mr. Eric Gelston served as its first coach. Mrs. Kathie Marino took over as head coach in 2004. Former PIAA state competitor and collegiate hurdler Douglas Smith joined the coaching staff for the 2005 season in a part-time capacity. He assisted Coach Marino full-time during the 2006 season and took the head coaching reins for the 2007 season and continues through the present. Coach Smith received his Technical Coaching Certification from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association's (USTFCCA) Track & Field Academy in 2011.
Coach Smith initiated the annual RTCS Track & Field Invitational in 2007, now planning for its 14th year.
